ResourcesCarolinas Wireless Association is a business association comprised of members of all sectors of the wireless industry whose objective is the promotion and advancement of the industry by means of education, awareness and opportunity. Our mission is to be a unified voice in state and local legislative matters impacting the industry and to serve as a central repository for collection and distribution of news and information for our members. Through the cultivation of relationships between the wireless industry and the local communities they serve, we will set the highest of ethical standards and integrity to achieve our mission. CTIA-The Wireless Association® is an international nonprofit membership organization founded in 1984, representing all sectors of wireless communications – cellular, personal communication services and enhanced specialized mobile radio. As an organization, CTIA represents service providers, manufacturers, wireless data and internet companies, as well as other contributors to the wireless universe. CTIA advocates on their behalf before the Executive Branch, the Federal Communications Commission, Congress, and state regulatory and legislative bodies. CTIA also coordinates the industry’s voluntary efforts to bring consumers a wide variety of choices and information regarding their wireless service, and supports important industry initiatives. The association also operates the industry’s leading trade shows, as well as equipment testing and certification programs to ensure a high standard of quality for consumers. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is an independent United States government agency, directly responsible to Congress. The FCC was established by the Communications Act of 1934 and is charged with regulating interstate and international communications by radio, television, wire, satellite and cable. The FCC's jurisdiction covers the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. possessions. PCIA, The Wireless Infrastructure Association represents companies that develop, own, manage and operate towers, commercial rooftops and other facilities for the provision of all types of wireless, broadcasting and telecommunications services. PCIA understands that wireless communications cannot advance without the critical infrastructure provided by the tower and antenna companies. Therefore, PCIA is dedicated to advancing an understanding of the benefits of wireless services and required infrastructure to local and federal government officials and communities at large. PCIA activities include lobbying of federal, state and local agencies, educating PCIA members on new legislative initiatives and representing member interests before regulatory bodies. The ultimate goal of these activities is to assist our members in fulfilling the 1996 Telecommunications Act mandate to provide wireless services to the nation, as quickly as possible. The State Wireless Association Program was formed to assist in promoting the wireless industry and raising technology awareness at the local state level. The purpose of these associations is to develop a local identity for the wireless industry within the community; voicing a unified industry message toward local issues and responsibilities; to cultivate and further the relationships between the wireless industry and the community leadership; and to cultivate and nurture the relationships among the members of the wireless industry. |
