Gary C. Pennington
Managing Member

As the Senior Member of the Firm, Gary C. Pennington has enjoyed a varied and diversified practice. Currently, Mr. Pennington’s primary practice area is the representation of wireless communications carriers and related industries. This work involves the many legal components associated with the organized deployment of wireless infrastructure and technology across the United States on an expedited basis, as well as the legal support necessary for the continued evolution of that infrastructure and technology. In addition to the deployment of wireless infrastructure, Mr. Pennington also has assisted clients with acquisitions and dispositions of wireless assets across the United States. Mr. Pennington has also negotiated master lease agreements for both tower companies and wireless communications carriers for national use and application. Mr. Pennington also has extensive experience in commercial real estate transactions, including the sale and purchase of commercial real estate, office leases, and retail leases. Mr. Pennington also has handled numerous land use planning matters over his career. This practice has primarily involved the representation of communications tower companies and carriers before governmental bodies seeking to have new communications facilities approved, as well as writing and negotiating zoning ordinances that impact wireless communications companies. Further, Mr. Pennington has extensive experience representing companies that provide fiber related services and in negotiating broadband contracts for implementation of broadband networks.

Michelle Carimi
Attorney

Michelle Carimi joined Pennington Law Firm as an Attorney in 2014. Her practice primarily focuses on the representation of wireless communications carriers and related industries in real estate transactions including leasing, zoning, and contract negotiation. Michelle handles commercial real estate transactions as well, representing clients in matters concerning leasing, land use development, zoning, title, sales, and purchases.

Personal

Michelle was born and raised in Beaufort, South Carolina. When not practicing law, Michelle enjoys volunteering, traveling, and spending quality time with her family, including her husband, Tony, and their German Shepherd, Lina. In the legal community, Michelle is a member of the South Carolina Bar Association, Richland County Bar Association and South Carolina Women Lawyers Association. She has volunteered with the South Carolina Bar’s Ask-A- Lawyer television phone bank, the University of South Carolina’s Cocky’s Reading Express, and the First Responder’s Wills and Estate Planning Clinic. She has also served as a volunteer Guardian ad Litem for Richland County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), representing the best interests of children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect.

Michelle earned her Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2014. While in law school, Michelle was named the Susan McCrary Volunteer of the Year, appeared on the Dean’s List multiple semesters, and was inducted into the Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity. She earned CALI (American Jurisprudence) Awards in both Juvenile Justice and Real Estate Transactions II, and a certification in Children’s Law. She also served as a peer mentor and on the Executive Board of Women in Law as the Networking Coordinator (2012-2013) and Vice President (2013-2014).

Michelle earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in History with honors from the University of South Carolina in 2009. As an undergraduate, she served on the Capstone Scholar Student Advisory Board and co-taught a freshman course as a University 101 Peer Leader. She also received several merit-based scholarships, and participated in a study abroad program through the International Studies Institute at Palazzo Rucellai in Florence, Italy. After graduating in three years, she joined Pennington Law Firm as a paralegal, and went on to serve as the Firm’s law clerk throughout law school.
